We studied some hematological parameters in 36 cows from the autochthonous brachycephal Bulgarian breed - Rhodope short cattle. The blood for the study was taken twice - in spring and autumn, from cows bred in three different regions. We proved that the region and the season have a significant effect on hematological parameters. In the different regions, blood sugar ranges from 3.288 to 4.714 mmol/L, total protein from 50.67 to 58.48 g / L (P <0.001), cholesterol from 2.616 to 2.815 mmol/L, triglycerides from 0.258 to 0.595 mmol/L (P <0.001), creatinine from 217.8 to 254.1 μmol/L, Ca from 1.521 to 1.748 mmol/L, P from 3.073 to 3.218 mmol/L (P <0.05) and Mg from 0.649 to 1.497 mmol/L (P <0.001). Glucose, cholesterol (P <0.001), triglycerides (P <0.05) and minerals Ca, Mg (P <0.001) P (P <0.01) levels are higher in the fall compared to the spring while the levels of total protein (P <0.001) and creatinine (P <0.05) are lower in the fall compared to the spring.

This paper aimed to assess the improvement of beef production using industrial crossbreeding. The research was conducted on 101 individuals allotted in four groups, L1-Romanian Spotted cattle (RS) – control 1; L2 Limousine (L) x Romanian Spotted cattle; L3-Romania Black and White cattle (RBW) – control 2 and L4-Limousine x Romanian Black and White cattle. Body development of half-bloods from experimental groups was higher than the maternal breeds, showing pronounced aptitudes for beef production, especially in L x RS cross, which performed a body weight by 18 months old of 689.37 kg (+14.36% compared to maternal breed). An obvious improvement of beef yield was registered also in L x RBW group (603.13 kg live weight at 18 months old, +15.38% vs. the maternal breed). BS x L half-bloods had an average daily gain above 975 g, fitting into the beef morphological type. In the study, we found a good ability of body development for half-bloods and a pronounced heterosis effect compared to maternal races.

Breeding indices and their interrelations were studied with the Dutch and German Holstein cow populations, exploited in the southern part of the Republic of Moldova. It was established that regardless of origins of cow population both duration of service-period as well as during of calving interval significantly prevail admitted optimal value. The best results regarding the time of service -period and interval between calving is registered at the population of Holstein cows of Dutch origin. The calving interval, in the average on population of cows of Dutch origin exceeds the optimal admissible value by 16.93%. Under similar conditions, maintenance and operating on cows of the German origins the calving interval duration exceeds the target value by 21.2%, being higher comparing with the results established at cows of Dutch origins by 3.5%. The coefficient of reproductive capacity utilization on average at cows in cows of Dutch origin is 0.86 and that of German origin is 0.83. In the investigated populations, were established links under medium, weak and very weak, both positive and negative, between breeding indices and the age of cows.

The study aimed a comparative analysis of the nutritional characteristics of smoked and marinated products from herring (Clupea harengus). Thirty products were analyzed, fifteen samples of smoked and fifteen of marinated herring, five samples for each type of study product (manufacturers codification: A, B, C, D, E and F). The catch areas of analyzed herring products from al manufacturers were FAO 27, North-East Atlantic. The proteins, lipids, collagen and water content was determined using the automated analyzer Food Check (infrared spectrophotometer); mineral substances were determined by calcination at 550 0C and the carbohydrates content and energy value were determined by calculation, using conventional relations. The most important differences between the marinated herring products analyzed, have targeted the content of lipids, with difference of 3% (13.10% lipids for product C compared with 16.11% lipids for product A). There are very significant differences (p<0.001), between the two product categories analyzed, marinated herring having over 50% more fat for product A than for the smoked one (5.54% for E and 7.45% for F product).

The changes made in the composition and structure of beef cattle breeding in Bulgaria, impose along with research in the field of nutrition, technology and meat productivity to study the skin as a raw material for various branches of light industry. The relative weight, the percentage of the living mass of skin, the sizes, the thickness of skin in different areas were studied and skin area in fattened male Simmental, Limousine, Hereford and Aberdeen Angus calves slaughtered at 15 months of age. There are significant differences in the studied quality indicators of raw skin. The highest is the relative weight of the raw skin of calves of the Simmental breed, which showed the heaviest 38.9 kg and thick skin-6.94 mm at point “O” and 6.71mm at point “H”.

The main physicochemical parameters of goat milk of three breeds-Bulgarian White Dairy (BWD) and its crosses with Anglo-Nubian (BWDxAN) and Togenburg (BWDxTG) for lactation period were studied and three batches of white brined cheese produced from the milk breed were prepared. Goat's milk processed into white brined cheese from the studied breeds of goats reared in one herd is characterized by the lowest content of dry matter (DM) - 13.03%, milk fat- 4.91%, solids non fat (SNF) - 8.32%, total protein - 2.97%, casein - 2.03%, calcium - 0.139% and density - 28.2ºG, in BWD breed compared to its crosses. In the cheese at the 24-th hour of production, the water content is the lowest in the milk cheese of the BWD breed-53.34%, and the values for protein and milk fat 15.16%, 24.0% are the highest in the batch produced from the milk of the same breed. In mature white brined cheese on the 45-th day of production, the water and protein content decreased in all three batches compared to the 24-hour cheese, while the values for milk fat, fat content in the dry matter, water in the non-fat residue and salt in the aqueous phase rises.

Liquid fertilizer, in the current period, represents an important share for agricultural crops. From the research of the herbicides used worldwide it is ascertained that in most of the cases mixes of products are used to obtain a wide action range. Usually mixes of herbicides and complementary action are used, thus obtaining products having a wide action range which enables their use in various fields. The use of the herbicide mixes has important technical and economic benefits: the number of crops treatments are significantly diminished, therefore of the equipment, manpower, thus obtaining important diminishment of the energy consumption.

The purpose of the study it was represented by the comparative appreciation of the quality of some assortments of chocolate truffles marketed in Romania, following the sensory, chemical (including energy value), and economic characteristics. Three types of truffles (produced in France/Belgium) were taken in the study. Sensory characteristics were analyzed by tasting, using the scoring method; the lipid content was determined by the Soxhlet method, the protein one by the Kjeldahl method, and the moisture and the dry matter by the drying method in the oven (at 105° C); the results were compared with the declared values on the label. In order to determine the economic characteristics, the purchase price for 100 g of product was taken into account. Following the sensory analysis, two products being included in the category of very good products and one was in good quality class, but with a score very close to the very good product. The major chemical content of these products was: sugar between 41-38.7% - on the label), lipids between 45-48.3% on the label vs. 44.93-47.84% determined, proteins between 4.20-4.90% on the label vs. 3.99-4.66% and salt 0.11-0.34% - on the label. The energy value of these products was 599-618 kcal per 100 g.

The self-control program is evidence of one's own supervision in the factory, and may include a variety of analyzes (mycological, mycotoxicological, chemical, spectrophotometric). The aim of the paper is to carry out an analysis of the effectiveness of self-control programs for mycotoxins, between January and June 2019, for a factory laboratory in a feed mill from Romania. Methodologically, the data were processed, analyzed and synthesized in the form of graphs and tables. The results show that during the analyzed period, the self-control program for mycotoxins in the factory laboratory provided a total number of 1080 analyzes to be performed, of which 720 for raw materials, and 360 for compound feed; in fact, 455 analyzes were performed (42.1% of the total), of which 255 for raw materials (35.4%) and 200 for compound feed (55.5%). As a result of the study carried out in the feed mill, it is found that the monitoring of the level of mycotoxin contamination should be increased by increasing the degree of accomplishment of the analyzes proposed in the self-control program.
